What to expect from your journey?
Here’s a 12-month timeline to give you a clear overview of what to expect when starting GLP-1 medication:
Month 1
Discuss your health goals, complete the initial lab tests, begin GLP-1 treatment and monitor initial side effects.
Month 2
You may notice changes in appetite and weight. First check-up to assess medication response and adjust dosage, if needed.
Month 3-6
Continue regular check-ins and fine-tune your plan. Integrate lifestyle recommendations and expect noticeable changes in weight and appetite control.
Month 7-9
Check-up to review progress, adjust medication and lifestyle strategies. Start monthly visits for safety and effectiveness.
Month 10-12
Plan for ongoing health maintenance and potential continuation of therapy. Review your year-long progress and set new health goals.

If you are eligible to participate in the Fridays program, you will have the option to schedule a prescription fill with a video visit or, depending on the state, schedule a prescription fill without a video visit.
‍
Once you select your prescription fill type, you will be asked to sign up for one of our monthly subscription services. Once paid, you will be prompted to create a password for your account. Note: your username is the email address you signed up with. You're almost done! The last step after creating your password is to complete your initial health history intake form—this can be accessed by selecting "Next" after creating your password. You will also receive an email if you haven't completed your health history intake form and can complete it by logging into the portal: app.joinfridays.com. Please be sure to complete this at your earliest convenience to avoid any delays in your treatment plan.
‍
During your first appointment, your provider will discuss your health goals, review your medical history, order any necessary lab tests, and may order a prescription medication if deemed appropriate. Your provider will collaborate with you to create a personalized health plan. Alongside lifestyle recommendations, your care plan may include a prescription for weight loss medication.
‍
Upon starting a weight loss medication, regular check-ins with your provider can be scheduled. The frequency of these visits can vary, but usually are once a month in the beginning. During these check-ins, the provider will evaluate your progress in weight loss, monitor your medication tolerance, arrange follow-up lab tests or prescription refills, and adjust your care plan as necessary.
Weight loss outcomes can differ based on factors such as your initial weight, medical conditions, lifestyle adjustments, and the specific weight loss medication used. Numerous individuals who have taken GLP-1 medications for a duration of 68 weeks or more have reported achieving weight reductions of up to 15% from their initial body weight, when combined with healthy lifestyle choices. However, newer medications that are both GLP-1 and GIP agonists have shown an average weight reduction of 20%.
While prescriptions for weight loss medication cannot be guaranteed for every patient, if you are 18 years of age or older and meet specific criteria such as weight and certain associated health conditions, your healthcare provider may consider you eligible for a prescription. Generally speaking, those who qualify are: individuals with overweight (BMI > 27) or obesity (BMI > 30) and those who are seeking maintenance therapy that have a BMI > 22 and if their current BMI < 27, have a history of obesity or overweight and have previously been on a GLP-1 within the past 12 months.
At this time, patients have to be aged 18 - 74 years old to participate in the program.
If your BMI drops below 27, it is possible that you may no longer require GLP-1 medications, and your insurance may no longer cover the cost of the medication. In this situation, your healthcare provider will reassess your eligibility to determine if you can continue with the program. There are patients that may require maintenance therapy even if their BMI drops below 27 and your healthcare provider will determine if this option is right for you.
